1976 Metropolitan Museum of Art King Tut "Treasures of Tutankhamun" PinBeautiful vintage enameled tac pin / brooch, estate item, sold in 1976 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during its famous "Treasures of Tutankhamun" (King Tut) exhibit. Design is based on adornments that belonged to King Tut. Nekhbet is the Egyptian Vulture Goddess and personal protector of the pharaoh. She also watched over expectant mothers and children. Estate item, worn once or twice, then carefully stored with other special jewelry items that were also never / rarely worn. F
rom the famous King Tut exhibit at the Met in NYC- gold tone, blue and red enameling, secure tac pin style, has a nice heft. Claws clutch the symbol for infinity and there are ankhs (symbols of life) by the feet.
Measures 3/4" across (widest part of wings) by 9/16" from top of head to bottom of tail.
Marked "MMA 1976".
