My best friend was a collector and love of all things Egyptian. This sculpture/figurine was packed away and I just thought it a very unusual and lovely art piece. Alas it needs to be in someone else's hands now and I wish I could give you some definitive info for Ihave searched on multiple occasions for the identification of this piece.. I conclude that the new owner will have to be the detective. My thoughts from reading are: she may be a female Pharoah with body of a lion, human head wearing a nemes or head cloth and fake beard. She could have been a sphinx in Hatshepsut tomb. I don't think this is Sekmet.
There are so many gods, goddesses, pharoahs etc and no where could i find a photo of this piece.
Regardless, it is a wonderful, unusual find and makes for great conversation.
'She' stands 6" tall; 5"wide on 6x 2" base; its apparently a composite material, gold painted on a black 'wood' base.
there is a engraved stamp on underside which may be an "M"- have no other info
*No chips but there is discoloration on underside and body.. when I took pix some time ago it was near perfect..I packed it up and as I opened to list I noticed the discoloration which was most likely due to my keeping in plastic bag!! I adjusted the price..
please see all pix..
I have no idea where it was purchased... if you have any information about it..I would love to know..thank you!
