Papyrus paper comes from a reed that grows in the Nile that has a triangular towering stalk as high as 14ft. After the stalk is split it, is soaked for 6 days after it is cut into strips, and then pressed by the roll to get the water out. It is then  laid side by side horizontally and vertically on a piece of cloth when put into a manual press where, water is then pressed out. This causes the the strips to stick together.
