The AK-A188 is one of the most advanced mixing amplifiers One of the most useful features is the automatic source selector. The AK-A188 will detect which ever audio source is on and automatically select it so you don't have to guess when choosing from one of the four inputs. You will not have any silence as long as you have music playing through the background music (BGM) sound input even when you pause, or change discs on your DVD player. The party won't stop if the music doesn't! You'll have full control as the BGM feature has an input level controller on the back panel so you can adjust volume levels appropriately. To help better control this feature, sensitivity switches are used for the DVD, TAPE, and AUX inputs so you can set the sensitivity at which the audio source will detect and switch to the right source automatically.
The best feature yet is the incorporation of BBE Technology. BBE is a sound enhancement technology that is described by electronics manufacturers as the next leap forward in sound reproduction technology and is very popular among music and sound professionals. BBE will improve sound from as simple as a spoken word, to singing, to a full symphony and deliver it with clarity and liveliness. You will have to hear it to believe it.
The AK-A188 can push out 500 watts of power at 4 ohms and can be set up in 3 different speaker configurations. The back speaker terminals are labeled System 1 and 2 and can drive speakers no lower than 4 ohms when only one system is used at a time. You can drive speakers no lower than 8 ohms when using both systems together. The terminals are designed to be used with bare speaker wire as well as banana connectors. A subwoofer output is also built in along with a subwoofer frequency control so you can send an audio signal to a powered subwoofer or to an amplifier. This is more power and configurations than you'll probably ever need to use but are conveniently available!
Singers will be just as happy since there are many features at their disposal as well. One of the most important is the Hi-Cut and Low-Cut features. This will help eliminate low and high frequency microphone feedback such as hissing and breathing. If you're a singer, you know this can hurt your performance and most systems cannot overcome this problem but now there is a way to deal with it.
