VINTAGE PHAROAHS PAPYRUS SPHYNX SQUARE NAZLET EL SAMMAN GIZA - EGYPT “Meidum Geese”
THIS PAPYRUS PAINTING COMES WITH A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY (see pictures!)
Condition: VERY GOOD  FOR THE PAINTING! Has a beautiful silk mat ( a little bit waving on the top).
Frame( with glass) is offered as a gift. It is in good acceptable condition.
Small size: 12 x 9 for the frame and 9 x 6 inches for the painted area.
This papyrus copies a detail of a painting from the early Dynasty 4 tomb of Nefermaat and Itet at Meidum, the original of which is now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo (Cairo CG 1742).
The geese were once part of a larger scene found on the north wall in the tomb chapel of Itet, the wife of the vizier Nefermaat, and likely the daughter-in-law of King Snefru. The geese were depicted below a scene showing men trapping birds in a clap net and offering them to the tomb’s owner.
This papyrus shows an extraordinary quality of the hand made tempera painting. The artist took great care in rendering the colors and textures of the birds’ feathers.
Because of the bright light of the flash and the gloss of the painting there is some glare in the image that does not appear in the actual picture; please ignore it! This is why I took some pictures with the flash and some others without the flash! However, the colors are vibrant and close to reality!
