This is a custom designed part (not original Yakima), and will look very different but fits well and is stronger with added metal screws for strength.
I am continually improving the design, the color and minor details of the shape may change from pictured.
There are 6 of these parts in each skybox. This auction includes only 1 part. If more than one is purchased then shipping will be combined (pay only shipping for the 1st).
Installation instructions with pictures included. This part is not intended to be serviceable by Yakima as they don't offer this replacement part but the process is simple.
Tools needed: Drill with 1/4" drill bit, plyers, Rivet gun with 3/16" x 1" rivets (ideally for security) or 6/32 screw with nut, washers and lock-washers (for lower security).
Instruction outline: Drill out rivets with 1/4" drill bit. Remove rivet pieces with needle-nose pliers or small screwdriver. Slide broken assembly (plastic cover, spring, and broken latch) off of locking rail. Slide one side of plastic cover on the bar, then new latch (pointed outward), add spring then other side of plastic cover. After spring is in place you can move the new latch into locked position and move the assembly to line up with the mounting holes. Add 2 rivets to secure the assembly to the outer housing (or screws with nuts for lower security).
